Sleep Aids Health

When it comes to getting fit, diet and exercise are important factors. However, there is an oft-overlooked factor that is equally important to one’s fitness endeavors. That factor is sleep. A person who gets enough sleep will perform better than one who does not get adequate sleep.

By sleeping more, people can become more productive and less stressed. The following five steps can help to get more sleep and become happier and healthier.

  1. Ditch the alarm clock.

Not setting an alarm and waking naturally, our bodies get the amount of sleep needed.

  1. Find your natural rhythm.

Record the times you go to bed each night and wake the next morning naturally. The National Sleep Foundation reports that most people require between 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night.

  1. Determine wake up time by your bedtime.

By determining the amount of sleep you need each night and the time that you need to be awake in order to complete your daily schedule, you can determine the time you need to be asleep each night.

  1. Meditate before bed

Meditation helps to quiet the mind, eliminating distractions that may keep you awake at night.

  1. When you wake unprompted and feel refreshed, you’ve had enough sleep

If you wake up and don’t feel refreshed, try getting more sleep. If you feel refreshed, it’s time to start the day.

All of these tips can help ensure you are getting enough sleep.
