Stop Yo-Yo Dieting

Yo Yo dieting

I’ve been working with a couple of new clients this past week, and I noticed the trend of when people start an exercise program or new way of life.  They’ve become so fixated on the counting of numbers. They’re constantly weighing themselves, counting calories, protein, etc.  Look, if you’re an athlete, that’s one thing because you need the calorie input/output and you have to perform. You have to have everything down to a science. On the other hand, if you’re somebody who’s always “yo-yoed”, worked out, stopped, worked out, stopped, ate good, ate like crap, counting is going to be your worst enemy. It’s only setting you up for that failure again.  No one can continue to keep counting things for the rest of their life. That’s not going to break the barriers to creating a lifestyle change.

What’s going to create a lifestyle change is understanding what you’re eating and why you’re eating it. By just eating real food, taking real food-based supplements, cutting out all the crap, fillers, and synthetics, this is when everything else will fall into play. Get your body moving, stay disciplined with three to four days a week of exercise, put in the real food, put in the time. Granted there’s a transitioning phase, but once you master that transition the rest is simple.

Again, if you’re an athlete and you have to peak for a certain event, that is a totally different story. But for the average mom, businessman, nine-to-fiver, someone just looking to get in shape and stay in shape, just eat real food. Your body will respond. It’ll turn back to a place of balance. Keep all the crap out, all the GMOs, all the pesticides, all the synthetic fillers, and you will see miracles take place.  Most importantly, you will be able to adapt to a completely new lifestyle change without the risk of  “yo-yoing” and going back to where you started.
